In the New York City area, we run a number of community based programs independent of any schools or community centers. These programs, run by trained Play Rugby USA YDM's, more closely resemble youth recreation programs. They give the youth of NYC the opportunity to play more rugby, or the ability to play if their school does not have a program. We currently run two of these programs, one based out of Manhattan and one based out of Rockaway. In addition, we have partnered with Not Lion Around located at the World Class Learning Academy in Manhattan.

Ex-professional rugby player and friend of the program Marc Stcherbina is graciously going to be running the LA Marathon on March 18, 2012 to support Play Rugby USA and the Tackling Cancer Foundation! This will be his first marathon. Marc formerly played for the Waratahs, Biarritz, Northampton Saints, Cardiff Blues, and Newport-Gwent Dragons. Please visit his page on Crowdrise to support him in this noble endeavor! From that page, you can either donate or create your own team to help support Marc and share his efforts with your network.
The Tackling Cancer Foundation was created to support leading cancer researchers while promoting safe and active lifestyles for today’s youth through sports. By leveraging the global participation of rugby, the foundation and its donors will help tackle cancer.
